Three generations. One ladder at a time.
Redcap Roofing is a family-owned roofing company based in Colorado Springs. We've been replacing, repairing, and maintaining Front Range roofs since 2009, built on a simple idea: treat the roof like it's going on our own house.
How Redcap started
Walter "Walt" Redcap started the company in 2009 after fifteen years as a foreman on commercial crews in Denver. He moved his family to the Springs, bought a single pickup, and started knocking on doors in Briargate after a June hailstorm. The first-year payroll was Walt, his son Tim, and one part-time guy named Reggie who's still with us today (now our lead foreman).
Sixteen years later, we've grown to seventeen full-time employees, six trucks, and a shop on North Circle. Walt's officially retired but still stops by twice a week to yell at somebody. Tim runs the company now. His daughter Claire handles the office side, which is why you'll get a human answering the phone during business hours.
How we hire
Every crew member has been through our internal training program, no exceptions. We don't subcontract to day-labor crews. If someone's on your roof wearing a Redcap shirt, they're our employee, W-2'd, insured under our policy, and they've been through at least six months of on-the-job training before they were allowed up there without a foreman.
It's one of the reasons our prices aren't the cheapest in the Springs. But it's also why we don't get the calls our competitors get three months after the job about leaking flashing or blown-off ridge vents.
Certifications we've actually earned
- GAF Master Elite, less than 3% of roofing contractors in the country carry this. It requires continuous training, proven installation quality, insurance, and an ongoing customer-satisfaction audit. We've held it since 2014.
- HAAG Certified Inspectors, Tim and our two lead estimators are HAAG-certified, which is the industry standard for insurance-claim damage assessment.
- BBB A+, accredited since 2011, zero unresolved complaints.
- Colorado licensed & bonded, license #CO-RF-18432, state of Colorado. $2M commercial general liability, $5M commercial, workers' comp.
- Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and CertainTeed Shingle Master for those manufacturer lines.
Community
We sponsor the Southeast Knights little-league baseball program every spring. We've partnered with Habitat for Humanity on twelve roof installations across Colorado Springs since 2016. And every November we donate labor on one free roof for a local family identified through Care and Share Food Bank.
We're not mentioning this because we want credit for it, we're mentioning it because a roofing company's community footprint tells you more about who you're hiring than any marketing ever will. Ask your other bidders the same question.
The people you'll meet on your project.
HAAG-certified. Walks every residential inspection personally. Fourth year running the company since Walt's retirement.
Handles scheduling, insurance paperwork, and all the emails. If you've called us, you've probably talked to Claire.
Employee #1, still here 16 years later. Runs our residential install crews. Speaks fluent Spanish and English.
HAAG-certified commercial inspector. Runs estimates and project management for commercial and multifamily work.
Hire a family, not a franchise.
We'd love to meet you on your roof.
