The shop.
Lumen is Ray Martinez, Vivian Cho, and Omar Patel. A master electrician, a journeyman, and an apprentice working out of a garage shop on Linden. Ray founded Lumen in 2014 after 14 years with a larger commercial house.
Why small stays better.
Every time we've been asked to add a crew we've said no. The three of us know each other's work. We show up when we said we would. We don't spread ourselves over nine jobs a week and send the new apprentice alone to wire your panel. If you hire Lumen, one of us three is on your property. All three of us carry a phone and all three of us answer.
The three of us.
Ray Martinez · Master electrician, founder
Colorado master license ME-2708. Started in the trade in 2000 as an apprentice with a commercial shop in Longmont. Journeyman 2005. Master 2011. Founded Lumen in 2014 to do residential right. 2,300 jobs later, still pulling the permits and still showing up on inspection day.
Vivian Cho · Journeyman electrician
Colorado journeyman license JE-4401. Six years with Lumen. Runs most of our EV and small commercial work. Graduated from the Front Range Community College apprentice program in 2019 and worked residential for two years before moving to us.
Omar Patel · Second-year apprentice
In the Colorado state apprentice program, second year. Rides shotgun on every job while he's training toward journeyman. Will be licensed in 2027. When an apprentice is on a Lumen job, a licensed electrician is too.
What the shop looks like.
A 1,200 sq ft converted garage on Linden Street, two blocks from Old Town. Three trucks in the bay. Racks of conduit, wire spools, a proper bender, our own pipe-thread machine. It's not an Instagram shop. It's a real one.
What we won't do.
- Rewire a house as long as the homeowner refuses to pull permits.
- Quote a panel upgrade without putting hands on the panel first.
- Take a job we don't have capacity for in the next 3 weeks, we'll refer out first.
- Work as a subcontractor under another electrician's license. Our name, our license, or pass.
What we will.
- Call back within 4 business hours. Always.
- Pull every permit. Always.
- Clean up the jobsite. Always.
- Tell you if a cheaper solution would serve you better than what you asked for.
Let's work together.
Call the shop or fill the form. Ray answers most job inquiries personally.
