What it costs

An honest conversation about what gardens cost.

A garden is not a product. It is a slow construction with material costs, plant costs, labor, and one or two follow-up seasons of attention. Below are the ranges we work in, drawn from the last three years of completed projects.

Design fees

Three engagement sizes.

Each of these is a real, scoped service, not a tier, not an "upgrade path." Pick the one that matches the work you want, or talk with us about what fits.

Consultation only

$175

90 minutes on-site. We walk the land with you, talk about what you're hoping for, share an honest read on what we'd do. Notes emailed within a week.

Credited back against design fees if we work together within 12 months.

Planting plan

$2,400–$6,800

Detailed planting schedule, plant locations, seasonal emergence notes, two-year care guide. Delivered in 6–10 weeks. You install or hand off to your crew.

Includes a follow-up site visit at the start of year two.

Full garden design

12–18% of install

Site survey, schematic design, planting plan, material specifications, install supervision, two-year care plan. 9–14 months from first visit to first photograph.

Typical install: $45k–$180k all-in.

Build & install

What construction costs.

Every install is bid fixed-price after the design is finished and signed off. The ranges below are drawn from completed projects 2022–2025.

Hand-stacked

Drystone walls & terraces

$450–$950 per linear foot

Local sandstone or quartzite, hand-set. Wall heights to 4 feet without engineering, taller with. Includes excavation, drainage, geo-fabric where the soil requires it, and topdress.

Plant material + labor

Native & climate-adapted planting

$18–$42 per square foot

Includes amended soil where needed, plant material from licensed CO native nurseries, drip-irrigation rough-in, and 2–3 inches of locally-sourced mulch.

Stone, gravel, paver

Patios, paths, gravel gardens

$28–$58 per square foot

Reclaimed flagstone, decomposed granite, or set pavers. Permeable assemblies preferred to limit runoff. Includes base prep, edge restraints, and joint material.

Seasonal care

What ongoing maintenance costs.

Quarterly visits for past clients and a small selection of new gardens. Limited roster (max 18 maintenance gardens) so each one gets real attention.

Quarterly visit

$450–$850

Pruning to species, seasonal cutback, irrigation calibration, plant swaps for what's not thriving. About 3–5 hours on-site per visit.

Annual contract

$1,800–$3,400

Four visits, lockup pricing for the year. Includes one extra "rescue visit" inside the year for anything urgent (animal damage, broken irrigation, late-frost loss).

One-off check-in

$285

For DIY clients who want a 2-hour walk-through of their own garden once or twice a year. Notes emailed within a week.
